line & lee spaghetti sauce
a recipe from: our mother-in-law
recipe note: moderate - 3 hr cook time
1/2 lb mild italian sausage
1/2 lb ground beef
1 large chopped onion
2 cloves garlic - minced
4, 6 oz cans tomato sauce
6 oz can italian style tomato paste
3 cups water
scant 1/4 cup sugar
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp dried parsley
1 tsp dried basil
1/2 tsp ground red pepper
1 cup sliced mushrooms

remove casings from sausage - cooks sausage & ground beef in large skillet over medium heat, about 6 minutes. add onion & garlic and sauce for 4 minutes or until done. drain, set aside. combine sauces & next 7 ingredients in skillet or dutch oven pan. cook stirring occasionally for 1 hour. add sausage mixture & mushroom. cook, stirring occasionally 1 hour & 30 minutes or until mixture thickens. serve over linguine & sprinkle with cheese.
